Technology > Harnessing wind power with small turbines
![]() | Recently, there have been a number of reports, both good and bad, about small wind power and we aim here to give you the most balanced view we can. Essentially, it all comes down to something called Betz Law. Put simply, power is proportional to the area of a wind turbine and the cubic velocity of the wind. So, the bigger the turbine, the more power and the windier it is, the more power: Power ~ Area x V³ The area for each turbine is fixed and has been designed expressly to deliver our rated size, so the key variable here is wind speed. Remember, if you double the wind speed, you get eight times the power. |
